It is true that there is a lot to see and do in the city, but if you only have a few 24 hours, I am going to suggest and plan your day so that all you have to do is enjoy yourself:
- I recommend you to start the day with a good breakfast that you can enjoy in the hotel Only YOU, in its restaurant LOLA, located on the 7th floor, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the historic centre and port of Malaga and where they will serve you a magnificent breakfast (from 07:30 to 11:00h).
- With your batteries full and your energy up, stroll through the historic centre; as soon as you get out of the hotel, in front of you, you have Calle Larios (main street of the city full of shops), any street on the right will take you to Plaza del Obispo, a very touristic square where you can see the Catedral de la Encarnación (+info). I encourage you to go in and see this architectural jewel.
When you finish, stroll along Calle Cister until you reach Calle Alcazabilla, where you will find the Alcazaba and the Roman Theatre.
A stop for a local wine and tapas at Bodega El Pimpi, an emblematic place with a terrace and a typical Andalusian bodega interior to admire, is not to be missed. You can make a reservation or call through the link.
- Once you've had a proper lunch, go out the door of El Pimpi onto Calle Granada, take Calle San Agustín and you'll come to the Picasso Museum.
- In the late afternoon, between the Alcazaba and the Museum of Malaga, you will find the Paseo de Don Juan Temboury which takes you to the Gibralfaro Viewpoint, where you will find another magnificent view of the city. If you have time, you can enter the Gibralfaro Castle, just behind the viewpoint.
- To end your day, you can go down by taxi, bus or on foot, depending on your strength, and finish the day at Muelle Uno, a place full of little stalls and shops where you can buy souvenirs and have dinner by the sea. As a recommendation; have dinner at CAMBARA and finish with a cocktail on the NUSA terrace.
