His first exhibition took place in 1938, when he was ten years old. At 16 he received his first professional commission for a local brotherhood. The following year he received a scholarship to study in Madrid for five years at the Real Academia de San Fernando. He then obtained another scholarship which enabled him to stay in Rome in 1951. From 1953 onwards his work began to be recognised.
He taught Fine Arts in Barcelona, at the Escuela de la Lonja, and has been an honorary member of the San Telmo Royal Academy of Fine Arts since 1987.
On the 27th of November 2010 a museum dedicated to him called Museo Revello de Toro opens in the centre of Malaga.
